EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

J.K. Public School, Kunjwani, celebrated Earth Day on April 22, 2019 with great
enthusiasm. However, the aim was to sensitize the students towards their role in addressing global environmental challenges at gross root level. Our proud Jkiians of grade 6 showcased their talent by making recycled egg carton flowers, collage on evolution of earth, whereas, class 7th students projected their artistic skills by making and painting on tote bags. In addition to this, essay writing competition was organized on 3R’s (Reduce, reuse and recycle) in which grade 8 students were engaged. The activity was organized to make everyone aware of the importance of taking care of our beautiful planet ‘Earth.’

Furthermore, J.K. Public School, participated in a ‘Symposium’ based on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution for the Survival of Species on Earth,’ conducted by the J&K State Pollution Control Board, Srinagar. In which Prachi Attri, of XthA, emerged out with bright shining colours by bringing laurels to the esteemed school and bagged 2nd position under the guidance of Mrs. Shweta.

Another obligatory event being conducted by the J&K State Pollution Control Board, Srinagar; was collection of used Multilayered Plastic (MLPs) packaging’s in which 3rd position was secured by the proud Jkiians under the supervision of Mr. Sunny Tickoo. Waste wrappers comprised of Uncle Chips, Lays, Kurkure, Bingo, Surf, Yippee Noodles, Haldiram etc. The main objective behind the conduction of the event was to create awareness amongst the masses that ‘Plastic’ cannot be recycled as it is non-biodegradable.
