ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

JK Public School, Kunjwani held its annual sports day on 23 December in the school playground. The aim of holding the event was to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and fondness for sports among children. The day was filled with fun, fest of laughter, energy and delight. Besides, the fantastic turnout from the parents and the pleasant weather were the perfect boost for the students.

The event began with the March Past followed by the flag hoisting ceremony. The sports meet was declared open formally by the chief guest. The national medalist carried the torch for the lighting ceremony. An oath was administered by students to participate in the sports day with true sportsman spirit. A melodious welcome song laid the mood for subsequent performances. Notable among them were several races including 100m hurdle race, 200 m race, 4×100 m relay etc. Field events like long jump, high jump and shot put were the other highlights of the meet. Several fun events were conducted for the children. These were jelly fish, collect the ball and run, three legged race, sack race, bag pack race etc. A peppy dance drill by toddlers, a mass physical exercise by primary classes and folk dances captivated one and all.

The most fascinating happening was the welcome by ‘Mitra’, the robot. Mitra is the world's most advanced commercial robot with the ability to navigate on its own, do intelligent conversations and recognize faces. Mitra is the five feet tall Indian robot which greeted Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi and daughter and advisor of Mr. Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, Ms. Ivanka Trump at the inaugural function of GES (Global Entrepreneurship Summit) 2017, in Hyderabad.

Academic achievers of Class 12th and 10th of the last year were given trophies. Present Class 12th students were also awarded with laptops for their academic excellence. The students who have earned name at national platform in sports were also felicitated by the chief guest. Ankeshwar Singh of Tilak House and Harneet Kaur of Bhagat Singh House were adjudged the overall best athletes. Overall best trophy was bagged by ‘Tilak House’.

In his speech, the Chief Guest praised the endeavours of the school and said JK Education Society is imparting quality education .He also added that JK Public school is a school with the difference because it trail blazes and sets examples for other. He highlighted the necessity of sportsmanship in this competitive world. He also said that JKPS is a school with a difference because it sets examples for others.
The last item, ‘Sports Demonstration’, showcased the skills and exercises practiced by the young JKIANS.
